Barnett demonstrates once again her unusual talent for idiomatic brass writing. The use of euphonium in place of trombone lends a new color to the quintet combination, although the part may perfectly well be played on trombone. The one-movement work includes four sections with the suggestive subtitles: Stand and Play, Sousa Fragments, Asleep, and The Two-Step Alarm.
